Nathanael Case

FALL FELLOW - 2022

Nathanael Case, is a graduating senior of College of the Ozarks.  

​

His work on the Jones Family Farm included but was not limited to:  tree trimming, mapping superior trees and proposals for future thinning. 

​

CERTIFIED TREE FARM DETAILS

​

  • Walnut, Pecan, Ash

  • 100+  acres of mechanic planted trees

  • Test sites are part of a larger 3k track of property 

  • 30 year old mature trees 

  • Gene Brunks selected trees (first tree improvement specialist in Missouri)

  • 6x24 ft. spacing

POTENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES

​

  • Establish baselines - evaluate the resources and develop phase 1 thinning schedule 

  • Physical thinning of lesser and/or mature trees

  • Examination of potential products

  • Measure tree diameter and tree height

  • Potential representative plot would be 3 rows wide, 300 feet long 

  • Develop a site map; Break the map into areas (ex. 1 - 6)

  • Propose various land management methods to prevent further erosion
